FOCUS 2024 – BIG ISSUES: CREATIVE SOLUTIONS
“There’s the old maxim that you can’t keep doing the same old things and expect a different outcome, so Screenrights’ Cultural Fund invites creative solutions to the challenges and opportunities faced by the education and screen sectors,” says Chair of the Cultural Fund Committee, Rachel Antony. “Whether it’s issues around AI, sustainability, or access and inclusion, for example, it’s terrific that the Screenrights membership is able to support some of the innovative problem solving we know our communities are continually exploring.”
The Screenrights Cultural Fund supports initiatives that foster the creation and appreciation of screen content in Australia and New Zealand. Individuals and organisations can apply for grants of up to $50K per project, with a total funding pool of $300,000 available in 2024 (up from $250K in previous years). The successful recipients in the 2024 grant round were announced on 28 August.
To get a good idea of the types of initiatives we fund, you can read about our previous grant recipients here. Now in its seventh year, the Cultural Fund has awarded over $1.3 million to screen industry initiatives since it was established in 2018.
Application Support
In 2022, an Expression of Interest process was introduced to the Cultural Fund grant round to assist less experienced grant writers with their applications. We continued this process in 2024 as Application Support, and support requests closed on Friday 22 March.
The Screenrights Cultural Fund is not a development or production fund. For development or production funding opportunities, we suggest checking out your regional screen or arts funding bodies.
