Screenrights welcomes the Government’s response to the Productivity Commission’s report on Australia’s Intellectual Property arrangements.
Screenrights CEO, Simon Lake said “Our members depend on copyright law to ensure that they receive a fair fee for the use of their works”.
“The Government’s response to the Productivity Commission report represents a recognition of the unique role of copyright in encouraging the continuous production of culturally significant screen content”.
The proposed approach to the Productivity Commission recommendations by the Government will keep Australia’s copyright laws up to date, whilst maintaining a sound copyright law framework for Australia and its creators.
Screenrights looks forward to the opportunity of working with the Department of Communications and the Arts in reviewing the Code of Conduct, and working with stakeholders generally in exploring further opportunities for future reform.
