Activity: for an indigenous youth peer-to-peer workshop initiative supporting collaboration and strong networks for youth Māori filmmakers and fostering future leaders and diverse screen voices.
Outcome: By September 2021, Through Our Lens had travelled to nine Indigenous communities throughout the Pacific and to Taiwan and Finland with 27 rangatahi Māori actively involved in delivering workshops to over 200 Indigenous youth producing 25 short films. These films present a wide range of youth experiences and Indigenous identities. Of the rangatahi Māori involved in Through Our Lens, eleven are now working in the industry, while 14 continue education towards a career in film and the creative arts.
