Screenrights has been working hard to get royalty payments out to our members as soon as possible, knowing they are more vital than ever this year.
Our December release of new royalties is our largest every year, and first payments go to members with pre-registered claims (and where there is no competing claim). This year the Data & Systems, Distribution, Licensing, Finance, and Member Relations teams have all been working together to bring those payments forward to October. It’s a huge task, especially as we’ve seen a four-fold increase in the volume of usage records to process – so we’re also implementing new technology to make this possible. That technology will improve the efficiency of future royalty releases, as we anticipate the volume of data will continue to grow outside of the spike we’ve seen during home learning necessitated by the pandemic restrictions.
Members will begin to see statements coming through with more micro-amounts, related to more usage records and reflecting the greater detail now available in our data.
