UK Research Show Piracy Decrease

Research into digital behaviours in the UK, commissioned by the UK Intellectual Property Office, has shown that online copyright infringement has dropped while use of legal streaming services has grown.

More than half of UK web users consumed content via streaming services, while the number of downloaders decreased. Convenience and cost were the main causes cited for streaming.

Despite the positive results, over 78 million music tracks and 50 million TV shows and movies were accessed illegally over the past three months. 5% of internet users access only illegal content.
