Activity: Platform 2022 was a three-day workshop intensive that followed 2021’s first ever Platform, staged with Sydney Film Festival to provide expert skill development that bridges the gap between creative and commercial elements of screen production in the global market. The workshop supported participants with exploring development, and culminated in a public pitch to international mentors and financiers.
Outcome: “Platform received a near 100% satisfaction score from its cohort on every metric and was a sold-out session (one of only three) in the SFF Hub. The event was attended by the youngest crowd of the festival (median age 24.6) highlighting a strong demand from young filmmakers to observe and participate in talent training even passively. All participants were invited to follow up meetings with Screen Australia and two teams are in active development on new projects with peers generated through the Platform programme (Jessica Barclay Lawton, Lizzie Cater, Rocky Rose, Jessica Pierce). Talent have found further support from State agencies and private entities (Goalpost Pictures, Studiocanal), which we expect to continue into the future.” – Sophie Mathisen, Executive Director, For Film’s Sake
